Steel

…begins with maquettes in card-stock from 3 to 6 inches in height, but always thinking of them in a larger scale. Even though the steel is rigid and linear, the use of light and shadow soften the work. All the edges clean and finished. These edges create the complexity of the shadows. More than seeing the piece as a whole from a distance but when I look at the different angles up close as the light changes, the change is constant and dramatic. Most of the large scale pieces rotate on the base, allowing the piece to change at the whim of a turn.
